Last September we welcomed “Pippa”,the young pup, to the property and over the past months it has been a tortuous task training this bundle of energy.  Caddie, our dog for the past 14+years, has been a wonderfull friend and helper around the vineyard over this time, however age has crept up on her.

The situation soon became untenable as the old and the young could not get on.  It was decided to move Caddie to the city to be company for my ageing parents and while she was becoming deaf and listless she was great company for them over the past few months.

Her condition deteriated quickly around Christmas and it was decided that a trip to Perth was needed to take her to a Vet to have her put down.  It was a sad occassion but the decision meant that she would not endure pain or incapacity for too long.  Vale Caddie, you were a great friend and we really enjoyed the time chasing kangaroos out of the vines and generally keeping me company when amongst the vines.
Well now the baton has surely been passed to Pippa the “wonder dog” who has progressed to the new nickname “serial pest” as she is taking time learning not to jump, lick and generally be a pest - well she still is only 5 months old!  Energy she has and running ability as well.  Already over the past month she has removed three kangaroos from the vines and again only going as far as the boundary.  The odd rabbit has had to run for its life as well.

Yes, she has grown.  First the body grew rapidly and now the legs are lengthening.  I have never seen anything run and stalk like this thing!  Well it is now her job to keep a close eye on things around the vineyard and soon it will “bird patrol” time.

The baton has now been passed to you “Pippa”.
