Nets on & no nets off!
One game I don’t want to ever play is “nets on,nets off”. The picture perfect vineyard is now less glam with the black nets. Due to being surrounded by bush and the fact that we have an abundance of bird life it’s simple-no nets no fruit!

Local redgum blossom is an important food source for the main pest the silvereye. The level of blossom will usually tell us how much damage to expect. At this stage no one really can forecast what the flowering will be in advance. Most vignerons hang in there and delay putting nets on until damage commences, while others take no chances and at the first sign of veraison on they go. What happens now is that regular inspection is done to free any birds who have found their way under or tangled.
